Unity Park Community Garden Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to cultivating community health, education, and sustainability. Operating at the City of Lenoir’s Unity Park and Community Gardens, we care for vibrant growing spaces and believe in sharing the harvest with our neighbors. We regularly donate fresh produce to the local soup kitchen and other community food distribution initiatives, and we maintain an on-site community share area at the garden where fresh produce is freely available.
In partnership with NC State Extension Master Gardener volunteers in Caldwell County, we offer hands-on education, teach research-based NC State gardening methods, and provide welcoming garden beds for community members to grow together.
Our Core Pillars: We focus our efforts across three primary areas—Sustainable Food, Hands-On Education, and Community & Connection.
Established in 2010 through a grassroots Caldwell County initiative and a FIT Community grant, Unity Park and Community Gardens transformed the former Singer Furniture Factory site on College Avenue into a vibrant park and community garden. In partnership with the City of Lenoir, the Caldwell Memorial Hospital Foundation, and NC State Extension Master Gardener volunteers in Caldwell County, the garden grew from an industrial lot into a thriving educational and food-distribution hub. Today, operating as an independent 501(c)(3) public charity, the Unity Park Community Garden Association continues to steward these grounds—growing fresh produce, teaching research-based gardening methods, and sharing the harvest with our community.
